CHILDLINE India Foundation (CIF) conducted a consultative meeting with government officials and NGOs on June 17 to discuss and assess on launching Childline 1098 (night and day) in Dimapur.
Adressing the gathering, Mr. Avik Mitra, Northeast coordinator, CIF, stressed on the need for coordination between stakeholders of government agencies, NGOs and police to ensure the effectiveness of the child helpline. He said that CHILDLINE is not only about counseling over the phone but also aims to reach out to the most marginalized children between the aged group of 0-18 years and provides intervention, shelter, medical repatriation, rescue, death related, sponsorship and emotional support and guidance.
Mr. Sedevikho Khro, ADC, requested to all the stake holders to see to it that their responsibilities are carried out to the advantage of underprivileged children. Denouncing the discrimination of a child, he reminded that a child is a child and that there should be no discrimination on the basis of caste, creed or color when it comes to the concerns of a child. The SDPO, DWO Dimapur, Railway Protection Force personnel and other stake holders were present for the programme.
