CIFs Lena Dasgupta Basu is a dedicated social
worker, caring mother, and talented radio jockey with a golden voice.
Meet Lena, Programme Coordinator at East Regional Resource Centre of
CHILDLINE India Foundation who is multi-talented with a large audience
listening her on Rainbow FM of All India Radio in Calcutta.
The
moment Lena, (35) steps behind the microphone she is a changed person. As
a radio jockey, she hosts talk shows on Rainbow FM of All India
Radio and loves to communicate with her listeners from all walks of life –
children, homemakers, engineers, doctors, IT professionals, students,
businessmen, senior citizens in Calcutta, West Bengal.
In
2002, since she started working as a Radio Jockey with All India Radio,
it has been something more than a hobby and an inspiration,
says, Lena sitting at the Eastern Regional Resource Centre of CIF,
what makes it even more meaningful is that I get to talk about various topics
like children issues, interact with listeners and so on. So committed
is Lena that after completing her work with CIF during weekdays, she
is motivated enough spend long hours during weekends with Rainbow FM in
Calcutta to anchor shows. Her message and discussions motivates, and encourages
many listeners to look beyond themselves.
From hosting
morning show "Namoskar Kolkata" on Sundays in the initial years and
now she hosts "Adda Unlimited" on Sunday evenings. She acknowledges
continuous support from her family and CIF. Her deep interest in the
sector, experience, skill set brings a significant advantage to the CIF. Lena
is a post graduate in Masters in Sociology from Calcutta University.
She is a devoted family woman married to
Sudip Basu and has a cute girl child.
